Faroese man charged with arson after public toilet fire

A 70-year-old man has been charged with arson after allegedly setting fire to a public toilet in Tórshavn’s Mylnugøta street on the evening of 9 November 2024, Faroese public broadcaster KVF reports.
According to the indictment, the man lit a paper napkin and discarded it in a waste bin inside the facility. Prosecutors are seeking a custodial sentence and financial compensation. The case, filed on 4 November last year, has not yet been scheduled for trial.
