The Danish cycling champion Jonas Vingegaard was honored in his hometown of Glyngøre on Wednesday, though he did not attend the celebration himself, DR reports.

Residents gathered to mark Vingegaard’s latest triumph—a victory in the Giro d’Italia last week—adding a pink leader’s jersey to his collection of yellow from the Tour de France and red from the Vuelta a España. The event featured music, food, and speeches, including a recorded video message from the town to be sent to the cyclist.

Gitte Skov, a co-organizer, explained that Vingegaard’s absence was due to his preparation for the upcoming Tour de France. “We’re making a nice day for the town’s residents,” she said. “We know he’ll be happy and touched—his wife Trine has told us that. It gives him extra motivation.”

The mayor of Struer Municipality also delivered a speech during the festivities.
