The Faroese government has no plans to change current regulations for foreign workers, labour minister Jacob Vestergaard confirmed Wednesday, stating the system functions as intended.

Speaking to public broadcaster KVF, Vestergaard acknowledged confusion among foreign travellers stopped by police for lacking proper permits but argued the issue stems from insufficient awareness rather than flawed rules. “The law works as it should,” he said, adding that improved public information—not regulatory changes—was the solution.

Foreign tourists facing police checks for missing required permits should not expect government assistance, the minister emphasised.
