The Faroese Health Workers’ Union has summoned all delegates to an emergency meeting on Thursday at 13:00, following the breakdown of wage negotiations with the Municipal Employers’ Association last week, public broadcaster KVF reports.

Both the union and the employers’ association rejected the mediator’s proposal. The employers cited excessive costs under the proposed terms, while the union dismissed the offer due to its reliance on a public-sector wage agreement signed by 12 other unions and the Finance Ministry. That agreement sets a 3.87% pay increase for the first year.

“This is far too little for our members,” said Mary Antonsdóttir, the union’s chair.
