Worker killed in industrial accident at Trøndelag smelting plant

A 58-year-old man died late Tuesday night in a workplace accident at a Wacker Chemicals plant in Heim municipality, Trøndelag, Dagbladet reports.

Roger Aune, a resident of Kyrksæterøra, sustained fatal head injuries while working on a conveyor system at the facility in Holla. Emergency services attempted resuscitation, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Wacker Chemicals, a major employer in the region, confirmed the incident in a statement, expressing “deep sorrow” and extending condolences to Aune’s family. The company added that witnesses and affected staff are receiving psychological support.

Trøndelag police have launched an investigation into the accident, though the cause remains undetermined.
