The Faroe Islands has nearly seven times more workplace fatalities than Iceland and three times more than Denmark, Sweden, or Finland, according to a report by Faroese public broadcaster KVF.

On average, one Faroese worker dies annually in occupational accidents, with heavy machinery incidents being a recurring cause. While investigations into such accidents have increased, oversight efforts have not, said Leivur Persson, director of the Faroese Occupational Safety and Fire Prevention Authority.
