Fire destroys row house in Närpiö, six residents evacuated

A fire tore through a six-unit row house in Närpiö early Tuesday, completely destroying one apartment and severely damaging another, according to emergency services.
The blaze, reported just after midnight on Vaasantie street, spread to the roof structure, where firefighting efforts were still underway as of 2:30 AM, Teemu Jumpponen, the duty fire chief for the Ostrobothnia Rescue Department, told public broadcaster Yle. Eleven emergency response units were deployed to the scene.
No injuries were reported, but six residents were evacuated due to the fire. The cause remains under investigation.
