Faroese police receive daily reports of suspected illegal foreign tour guides

Monday 1st June 2026 on 21:30 in Faroe Islands

Faroese police are handling up to 15 daily reports from the public about suspected unlicensed foreign tour guides, national broadcaster KVF reports.

Two foreign nationals were detained, fined, and expelled from the Faroe Islands on Saturday after working without proper permits. Authorities at the Immigration Office, which issues work and residence permits, emphasize that it is the responsibility of foreign tour operators themselves to ensure they comply with local regulations.
