Jonas Vingegaard set to claim Giro d’Italia victory, completing all three grand tours

Jonas Vingegaard is poised to be crowned winner of the Giro d’Italia on Sunday, making him only the eighth cyclist in history to secure all three grand tours, according to his childhood cycling club in Denmark.

Members of Thy Cykle Ring, where Vingegaard first trained as a boy, told Danish broadcaster DR that his early days on the bike were far from promising. “We had to wait for him constantly,” recalled one club member, describing a young rider who struggled to keep pace with his peers.

The club now watches with pride as their former trainee stands on the brink of a historic achievement, having already won the Tour de France and Vuelta a España.
