Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson confirmed in a live interview on public broadcaster SVT that the Sweden Democrats (SD) will hold ministerial posts if his conservative bloc wins the upcoming election, though the number of positions will depend on the vote outcome.
Speaking on Fråga partiledaren allt! (Ask the Party Leader Anything!), Kristersson dismissed accusations from the opposition Social Democrats that his government was overly focused on SD, stating he was instead “obsessed with solving society’s problems.” He later clarified that SD and the other parties in his Tidö coalition would secure cabinet seats if their alliance prevails in the election.
The question about SD’s future cabinet representation was submitted by Social Democrat Matilda Ernkrans, vice chair of the Riksdag’s EU committee, who asked: “Who will be finance minister in Jimmie Åkesson’s government?” Kristersson did not directly address the finance minister query but reiterated that election results would determine the distribution of ministerial roles.
The interview follows a similar appearance earlier this week by Social Democrats leader Magdalena Andersson, during which a conservative lawmaker submitted a pointed question to her.
