Police investigate abduction of student in Nivala bullying confrontation
Police in northern Finland are investigating an incident in which an outsider forced a student into a car outside a school in Nivala on Wednesday, with bullying alleged as the underlying cause.
The suspect, who is not a student or staff member but has ties to the school, took the child against their will, Oulu police crime commissioner Tero Luukkonen told Yle. Authorities have not confirmed whether the individual is related to a pupil.
“This was an attempt to resolve a bullying situation, but it was handled completely the wrong way,” Luukkonen said.
The case is being probed as deprivation of liberty, minor assault, and illegal threats. Investigators will continue questioning those involved.
