The retirement age for public pensions in the Faroe Islands is set to increase, but this change will not take effect until 2035.
The government has announced that the law governing public pensions stipulates that the retirement age must be determined by the parliament every ten years, with the first assessment taking place in 2025, applicable from 2035.
The Minister of Social Affairs plans to present a proposal to the parliament regarding the increase in the retirement age, which is expected to be discussed in early 2025.
