A large crane buckled and dropped a loaded food cart onto a street in central Holstebro on Thursday morning, Danish broadcaster DR reports.

The cart was being hoisted onto a first-floor terrace at the Nørreport shopping centre for use at a topping-out ceremony for a newly completed building when the crane’s arm snapped. The cart crashed onto the road near a traffic light intersection, landing just metres from a car waiting at a red light. No injuries were reported.

Lasse Mors, project manager for construction firm Knudsgaard Byggeri & Entreprise, which had ordered the cart for the event, declined to speculate on the cause but confirmed only material damage occurred. “We’re relieved no one was hurt,” he said.

Clearance operations took several hours as crews waited for a replacement crane to remove the wreckage. The road reopened around 15:00 local time.

A last-minute replacement was secured from Vibeke Jacobsen, owner of Enghavens Pølser, another local vendor. Jacobsen was at a hair appointment when contacted for help. “I was supposed to open my usual stand in Enghaven today, but that will have to wait,” she told Dagbladet Holstebro.
