Swedish gang member arrested in Spain over violent crimes linked to organised crime

A Swedish man wanted for multiple violent crimes in Sweden has been arrested in Spain, police confirmed Thursday. The suspect, linked to organised crime networks, had been internationally sought since winter after being detained in absentia in February, according to a statement from Skaraborg police.

The investigation, led by Skaraborg police in cooperation with the western regional police and Sweden’s National Operational Department (Noa), has spanned over a year. Authorities allege the suspect conspired in two attempted murders, planned large-scale arson, and involved a minor in criminal activity.

“This case has required intensive work against several individuals, uncovering crimes with local, national, and international connections,” said Fredrik Malm, Skaraborg’s police area chief.
