The Tórshavn city council’s child welfare honour will be renamed the M.A. Jacobsen honour for child welfare, following a proposed amendment to local regulations, Faroese broadcaster KVF reports.
The change consolidates two separate sets of rules into one, with all honours now governed under the M.A. Jacobsen honours regulation. Previously, the child welfare award operated under its own distinct regulation.
Awards will continue to be presented on M.A. Jacobsen’s birthday, September 17, or on another suitable autumn date if necessary. The amendment also clarifies that meeting notices for the selection committee will now be issued by the city archivist, who serves as the committee’s secretary—a practice already in place.
The city council is expected to vote on the changes today. The cultural affairs committee has recommended approval.
