A young adult woman is the victim of a rape that occurred in the skiing area between Jyskän and Halssila in Jyväskylä, according to police reports. The woman suffered serious injuries but is no longer in life-threatening condition.

Authorities suspect a local man in his twenties of committing aggravated rape and attempted murder, alleging that he inflicted severe violence on the victim, potentially using a sharp weapon. The area is known for outdoor activities, and police state that there were other people present during the incident. Officers have interviewed these individuals regarding any observations they may have made.

The police were alerted to the violent crime by calls for help from the victim’s acquaintances. Approximately two hours after the incident, the suspect was apprehended based on police investigations. According to reports, the victim and the suspect did not previously know each other.

Two weeks ago, the Central Finland District Court detained the 2001-born man on suspicion of aggravated rape and attempted murder related to the incident in Jyväskylä. The suspect has a Finnish name.

The investigation is ongoing, involving technical examinations and interviews with relevant parties. The case will be handed over to the prosecutor for charges to be considered once the preliminary investigation concludes this autumn.
