Finland’s labour minister vows to resolve drone alert pay dispute before summer break
Finland’s labour minister Matias Marttinen has warned that the government will intervene if employer and union groups fail to settle a dispute over whether workers staying home due to drone threat alerts should receive pay, state broadcaster Yle reported Wednesday.
Speaking on Yle’s A-studio programme, Marttinen said he had given the labour market organisations a two-week deadline to agree on guidelines for employers, developed in cooperation with authorities. If no solution is reached, he stated, the matter will move to his desk.
“Before we leave for summer holiday, this issue will be resolved,” Marttinen said.
The dispute follows recent drone-related security alerts that have led some employees to stay home, raising questions over compensation terms.
