Man charged with giving abducted infant cocaine
A 37-year-old man already facing abduction and attempted rape charges has now been accused of administering cocaine to a seven-month-old girl during her kidnapping, Danish broadcaster DR reports.
The new charge follows a drug test taken from the infant immediately after she was reunited with her parents. The man denies the allegation, according to a ruling Wednesday from Sønderborg Court, which extended his pretrial detention by four weeks.
The girl was abducted on March 9 around 18:00 local time while sleeping in a pram in a Haderslev courtyard. Police located her an hour and a half later in a room at Hotel Norden with the suspect, who was arrested at the scene.
During questioning, the man allegedly told officers, “I didn’t do anything, but I intended to.” The infant was found wearing only an outer garment, with no clothing or diaper underneath.
The suspect has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including gross deprivation of liberty and attempted rape of a child under 12. His detention was first extended in April and again on Wednesday.
