The North Savonia welfare region in Finland has launched large-scale redundancy consultations affecting its entire workforce of around 12,500 employees, public broadcaster Yle reports.
Management summoned all staff and union representatives Wednesday morning to announce the start of the process, according to Yle’s sources. Three separate union trustee representatives confirmed the talks will cover the region’s full personnel roster.
The welfare region, which oversees social and healthcare services in the area, has not yet disclosed the scale of potential job cuts or restructuring measures under consideration.
