The Faroese Ministry of Education is recruiting a department head for Sernám, which will formally become a division within the education directorate on 1 June, national broadcaster KVF reports.

Applications close on 14 June, with the successful candidate expected to begin work on 1 August. The restructuring follows a decision by Bárður á Lakjuni, minister for culture and education, to merge Sernám with the education directorate.

The current interim arrangement, in place since 1 September last year, will end with the permanent appointment. The minister stated the merger aims to strengthen coordination between special education services and the broader school system, particularly in primary education, while maintaining advisory roles for kindergartens and secondary schools.
