Finnish public broadcaster Yle experienced technical disruptions during its 18:00 national TV news bulletin on Tuesday, preventing the start of the programme from airing, the company reported.
Earlier in the day, Yle’s radio broadcasts also faced technical issues. Morning programming was replaced with music after scheduled shows failed to transmit. While national radio news aired as planned, regional news and afternoon local broadcasts were cancelled. The fault was later resolved.
Janne Yli-Äyhö, Yle’s director of technology, attributed the radio outage to a severed connection between the broadcast system’s backend infrastructure and its storage capacity.
