Denmark’s Queen Margrethe has been readmitted to Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen for treatment of a large haematoma in her hip region caused by a previous fall, the royal household announced Monday.

A CT scan confirmed the blood collection, which follows an earlier hospital stay this month for angina. The 86-year-old monarch underwent a coronary angioplasty during that admission.

The palace stated that the queen is expected to remain hospitalised for several days but is in good condition given the circumstances. She had only been discharged from Rigshospitalet last week after a six-day stay.

Her latest admission coincides with the Royal Run event, in which members of the royal family are participating.
