Denmark’s King Frederik kicks off Royal Run with 112,000 participants

King Frederik X of Denmark launched this year’s Royal Run in Randers on Monday, joining thousands of participants in the annual mass event, state broadcaster DR reports.

The run, now in its seventh year, has drawn over 112,000 registrants across five cities: Copenhagen/Frederiksberg, Ringkøbing, Randers, Middelfart, and Helsingør. Participants can choose to walk or run distances of one mile (1.6 km), 5 km, or 10 km.

Before the start, the king reminded runners to “make sure to drink plenty of fluids” as temperatures climbed.
