A 42-year-old man from Rovaniemi is facing trial in Lapland District Court for allegedly making 550 non-emergency calls to Finland’s emergency services over four years, despite repeated warnings from authorities, Yle reports.
Prosecutors accuse the man of deliberately disrupting emergency communications, including radio transmissions critical to life-saving operations. He admitted during police questioning to making unnecessary calls but claimed he did not recall all of them.
The prosecution is seeking an unconditional prison sentence. The trial is ongoing.
