A mandatory workplace development scheme in Denmark is a “waste of life,” according to radio host Thomas Feldthaus, who dismissed the practice in blunt terms during a broadcast on Sara and Monopolet, a programme on public broadcaster DR.

The comments followed a listener, identified only as Ida, who described the annual MUS (employee development dialogue) as pointless, saying she had no interest in career progression and feared being perceived as lazy if she admitted this to her manager. The scheme, common in Danish workplaces, requires structured discussions between employees and supervisors about goals and professional growth.

Feldthaus responded by calling the process “bullshit,” arguing that it forces unnecessary conversations on workers who see no value in them.
