Helsinki police have identified an area where Katja Miinalainen may have been killed, a development reported by Yle. The police plan to conduct searches in that area in the coming autumn but are not disclosing its location for now.
Investigation leader Detective Inspector Jari Korkalainen told Yle that police have formed an understanding of the area where the homicide possibly occurred. Searches will take place in autumn, and more information will be released after they are completed.
Mika Moring, a serial offender with multiple convictions for sexual and violent crimes, including at least 271 crimes leading to convictions over his lifetime, has been suspected of killing Miinalainen since 2022. Korkalainen said the situation has not changed. Moring is also charged with the murder of Saara Arva, who disappeared in 201
