Two Afghan men from Aarhus have been charged by the German federal prosecutor with attempted complicity to murder, the Danish public broadcaster DR reported. One of the men is also charged with espionage for the Iranian intelligence service and attempted arson.
The man with Danish citizenship was 53 at the time of his arrest in June 2025 in Brabrand. The other, an Afghan citizen, was 42 when he was arrested in November 2025 in an apartment in Aarhus and later extradited to Germany.
According to the German federal prosecutor’s press release, the Danish citizen is strongly suspected of working for the intelligence arm of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and maintaining close ties to its Quds Force. The authorities believe he received orders in early 2025 to gather information on the president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany and the chairman of the Deutsch-Israelische Gesellschaft.
He is also accused of surveilling two Jewish merchants in Berlin. The prosecutor’s office stated that all his actions aimed to prepare assassinations and arson attacks. He reportedly scouted locations in Berlin in spring 2025 and sought co-conspirators.
He contacted the second suspect, who, according to German authorities, was prepared to procure weapons for a third party to carry out a murder attempt on the chairman of the Deutsch-Israelische Gesellschaft.
