A technical disruption at payment processing company Nets is causing problems for card payments in Sweden, with some transactions being denied since Thursday morning. Nets Nordic press chief Peter Glüsing told Swedish public broadcaster SVT that the issue began at 9:10 and that an incident team has been assigned to identify the cause and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.

Nets recommends that affected businesses activate their offline routines, which allow payments with physical cards to be processed. “It may also be possible to accept payments via alternative methods, for example Swish,” Glüsing wrote in a statement to SVT.

According to the company’s website, more than 140,000 businesses in the Nordic region use Nets payment solutions. Glüsing could not say how many of those customers are currently affected by the disruption.
