One-year-old dies after falling from window in Oslo

A one-year-old child who fell from a window in the Tøyen district of Oslo on Wednesday evening was pronounced dead at Ullevål University Hospital later that night, Oslo police said in a press release.

Police do not suspect the death was caused by a criminal act. “It appears to be a tragic accident. An autopsy has been routinely ordered, and we will now continue with initial investigations to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death,” police wrote.

The family has asked for calm and respect in their grief following the incident.

Around 6 p.m. Wednesday, a police patrol happened to drive past the location and was contacted by people in the area who reported that a child had fallen from a window. Paramedics and an anaesthesiologist-manned emergency vehicle were dispatched to the scene, where advanced acute medical treatment was given before the child was taken to hospital.

The child fell approximately five to six metres onto the pavement, according to police.
