Annika Katrin Joensen appointed interim principal in Eysturkommuna
Annika Katrin Joensen has been appointed interim principal of the school in Eysturkommuna, effective 15 May, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The 48-year-old, who lives in Saltangará, earned her teaching degree from the Faroe Islands Teacher Training College in 2003. The principal position became vacant after the former head, Atli F. Johansen, was elected to the Løgting, the Faroese parliament.
The temporary appointment runs until 1 April 2030. The school in Eysturkommuna has 241 pupils in grades 1 through 7 and operates across two locations, Leirvík and Gøtugjógv. It employs 22 full-time teachers and additional educational staff.
