Yle reported on Monday that the investigation into a jewelry store burglary in central Helsinki has moved to a prosecutor for one of the three suspects.

Police have arrested one person, while a second suspect remains at large under a European arrest warrant. Authorities are still working to identify the third suspect, and the preliminary investigation continues for them.

The three individuals broke into the Holmaston jewelry store on Aleksanterinkatu in the early hours of April 27 by driving a car through the display window. They stole several hundred pieces of jewelry and watches with a total sales value of approximately 600,000 euros.

A police patrol responding to an alarm interrupted the burglary. The suspects did not manage to fully secure the stolen items before fleeing by car to Vantaa, where they abandoned the vehicle along with the loot and continued on foot.

Lead investigator Detective Chief Inspector Mika Alanen of Helsinki Police said the suspects likely did not take any of the stolen goods with them when they left the getaway car.

The investigation has revealed that the foreign suspects arrived in Finland a few weeks before the crime via different routes, some using false identities. Police said the suspects are originally from Eastern Europe.
