Traffic collision on the national road near Streymoy

A two-car collision on the national road near Streymoy, on the Eysturoy side, left no persons injured but caused significant vehicle damage, according to Kringvarp Føroya.

The accident occurred around 2 a.m. on Monday. Both cars had come from the Norðskálabergholið area. As one vehicle approached the bridge on a downhill stretch, it attempted to overtake the other. The overtaking car swerved left and a collision followed.

Each car carried two occupants, all of them foreign nationals. No one was physically harmed, but both vehicles were badly damaged. Both parties were charged with violating traffic law.

The occupants of one car were tourists. They received an on-the-spot fine as they were due to leave the country. The occupants of the other car are residents and will receive their fine at a later date.
