Finland’s parliamentary defence committee to discuss recent drone threat
Finland’s parliamentary defence committee is meeting today to discuss the drone threat that occurred last Friday, according to a report by STT published by Yle.
The committee’s chair, Heikki Autto of the National Coalition Party, told STT earlier that the meeting will also address the emergency alert issued during the incident. Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen of the National Coalition Party, Interior Minister Mari Rantanen of the Finns Party, and Air Force Commander Major General Timo Herranen are all scheduled to be heard at the meeting.
In the early hours of last Friday, an emergency alert was issued for the Uusimaa region in southern Finland warning of a possible drone that had strayed into Finnish airspace. Authorities later announced that no drones had in fact entered Finland.
