Nittedal, norway, road accident

A person has died following a violent two-vehicle collision in Nittedal municipality on Sunday evening, Norwegian police confirmed to Dagbladet on Monday morning. Five people were involved in the crash, with three critically injured and airlifted to Ullevål University Hospital.

Emergency services were alerted to the accident at 19:05 on Sunday near Gjelleråsen in Nittedal. Witnesses reported that one car was travelling at “extremely high speed” before crossing into oncoming traffic and colliding head-on with another vehicle, according to police operation leader Wilhelm Bjølset.

“There were very strong forces at play in this collision,” Bjølset told reporters at the scene. Images from Nittedalsveien showed two severely damaged SUVs—one valued at over 4 million Norwegian kroner—with debris scattered across the roadway.

Duty solicitor Harald Holmsen confirmed to Dagbladet that the fatality was verified overnight. “We have not yet spoken to any of the involved parties, as all are currently hospitalised,” Holmsen stated, adding that investigators have “an assumption” about potential suspects but declined to elaborate.

Both police and the Norwegian Accident Investigation Board conducted overnight examinations at the site. While authorities described the speed as “very high,” Holmsen noted it was too early to specify exact velocities. Two additional individuals sustained minor injuries and were transported to Akershus University Hospital for treatment.
