King Frederik and Princess Isabella visit Queen Margrethe in hospital
King Frederik and Princess Isabella visited Queen Margrethe at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen on Saturday, where she remains in a “good condition,” according to a statement from the Danish Royal House to news agency Ritzau.
The royal family members have since left the hospital, though it is unclear whether this was the king’s first visit since the queen’s admission on Thursday.
Queen Margrethe, 86, was hospitalised due to angina pectoris (chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart) and later underwent a coronary angioplasty, a procedure to widen a blocked artery using a balloon catheter.
Following the operation, the Royal House confirmed that the queen was in stable condition. She is expected to remain hospitalised over the weekend for observation and further tests.
