A roller coaster car became stuck mid-ride at Helsinki’s Linnanmäki amusement park on Friday evening, leaving 12 passengers suspended upside down for nearly half an hour, reports Finnish broadcaster Yle.
The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. on the Ukko roller coaster, which reaches speeds of up to 105 km/h and includes a 50-meter vertical loop. The car stopped roughly halfway up the ascent, forcing passengers to wait in an inverted position until staff manually restarted the ride.
All passengers were safely evacuated, according to Satu Järvelä, CEO of Linnanmäki. She noted that no similar malfunctions had occurred this season, calling such incidents “isolated cases.”
The park’s classic wooden roller coaster remains operational alongside Ukko.
