Incoming long-haul flights to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport have been diverted to alternative airports after Finnish airspace over the Uusimaa region was closed, public broadcaster Yle reports. Departing flights remain grounded pending reopening.

Two morning flights from Tokyo were rerouted—one to Stockholm Arlanda and another to Rovaniemi—while a flight from Osaka also landed in Rovaniemi, a common diversion point for transpolar routes entering Finnish airspace via Lapland. Stockholm Arlanda received diverted flights from Hong Kong, Singapore and Málaga, while Tallinn Airport served as an alternate for flights originating in Seoul and Chengdu.

Finnish carrier Finnair has cancelled over a dozen departures from Helsinki-Vantaa, with most remaining morning flights rescheduled after 08:00 local time, provided airspace reopens by then.

Domestic flights within Finland are also affected. Regional departures from Kuopio, Rovaniemi, Jyväskylä, Vaasa, Oulu and Kokkola to Helsinki-Vantaa face delays until restrictions lift. Finnair has cancelled its morning services from Helsinki to Kuopio, Oulu and Rovaniemi, with further domestic cancellations expected.
