Finland will likely experience a heatwave early next week, with temperatures climbing to 25°C in southern and central regions, according to a forecast by Yle’s meteorologist Aleksi Lohtander.

The upcoming weekend will still bring scattered rainfall, particularly in eastern Finland, where thunderstorms are possible. On Friday, however, most of the country will see dry weather, with temperatures ranging between 14°C and 18°C. Frost may occur in central Finland on Friday night and in Lapland and western Finland on Saturday night.

A low-pressure system moving in from the southeast will bring unstable weather to eastern Finland on Saturday, with rainfall amounts reaching 20–30 millimetres in some areas. Thunderstorms are also possible, especially in Kainuu and North Karelia. While eastern regions will see temperatures of 10–15°C, southern and western Finland could reach 20°C in sunny spells.

Lohtander noted that multiple weather models indicate a significant warming trend next week. “Finland will get an extra burst of heat,” he said, with southern and central areas potentially hitting 25°C by Tuesday or Wednesday. Northern Finland will also see milder conditions, with daytime temperatures between 15°C and 20°C.
