Fire warning issued ahead of Norway’s May 17 celebrations
Norway’s fire services have urged the public to stay alert when cooking late-night meals during the upcoming long weekend and May 17 Constitution Day celebrations, Dagbladet reports.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the Oslo Fire and Rescue Service shared a photo of a completely charred pizza, warning that forgetfulness in the kitchen—especially after a night out—can quickly turn dangerous.
“People need to be careful if they’re making late-night food. There’s a risk of falling asleep while cooking,” duty fire chief Arvid Nordstrand told Dagbladet. He instead recommended buying takeaway on the way home.
The fire service added in its post: “We’ll come if you call, of course—but we’d prefer to meet under better circumstances.”
