Faroese oil storage facility receives environmental approval
A storage facility operated by oil company Effo in Søldarfjordur has been granted environmental approval by the Faroese Environmental Agency, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The facility, located in Sandur, handles the reception, storage, and dispatch of oil waste. The approval comes as plans advance to construct three new storage tanks—each with a combined capacity of 20,000 cubic metres (20 million litres)—to replace the ageing existing infrastructure.
The Environmental Agency’s decision may be appealed to the Faroese minister responsible for environmental affairs.
