High school student caught cheating in two matriculation exams in Lapinlahti
A student at Lapinlahti Upper Secondary School in North Savo has been caught cheating in two matriculation examinations, once last autumn and again this spring, reports Savon Sanomat.
The cheating was uncovered by exam invigilators, according to Sinikka Kervinen, the municipality’s director of education and the school’s principal. While Kervinen did not disclose details of the misconduct to Savon Sanomat, she confirmed that the cheating had been clearly verified.
The student’s results from both exam periods have been invalidated. The Lapinlahti municipal education board will address the case in its meeting on Monday, considering a proposal to bar the student from participating in the next examination period in autumn 2026.
The Finnish Matriculation Examination Board reported that nine students nationwide were caught cheating in this spring’s exams, out of 50,400 registered candidates.
