Faroese government proposes budget increases for housing support and hospitals
The Faroese government has proposed a budget increase of 6.5 million Danish kroner for 2026, with additional funding requested for housing allowances, language education, and healthcare, reports Faroese national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.
The proposed budget includes an additional 6 million kroner for housing support and 100,000 kroner for the Equality Committee. Funding for the Immigration Office would rise by 330,000 kroner under the plan.
Hospitals across the Faroe Islands would also receive increased allocations: the National Hospital would get 4.9 million kroner, Klaksvík Hospital 420,000 kroner, and Suðuroy Hospital 390,000 kroner.
Further adjustments include expanded support for adult literacy programs and Faroese language instruction as a second language. The budget proposal also contains several cost-neutral reallocations.
