A deep low-pressure system will bring unusually cold weather and heavy precipitation to Norway, with meteorologists warning of snow and wintry conditions across much of the country, Dagbladet reports.

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued snow warnings for northern parts of Innlandet and southern Trøndelag, with 10–20 centimetres expected in some areas. Strong winds may also cause blowing snow, creating hazardous travel conditions during the long weekend.

“Rainfall of 20–30 millimetres is expected in parts of eastern Norway and Trøndelag within 24 hours,” said duty meteorologist Leonidas Tsopouridis, describing the weather as “a taste of November.”

Temperatures will also remain unseasonably low, with Oslo expecting a high of just 8°C and Bergen struggling to reach 10°C. Even southern Europe offers little relief, with Berlin at 12°C and Paris at 14°C.

Northern Norway, particularly Tromsø, will see the mildest conditions with 13°C and morning sunshine, though rain is forecast later in the day. The cold, autumn-like weather is expected to persist through the weekend before a shift to warmer temperatures early next week.
