Wage negotiations for public sector workers in the Faroe Islands have been significantly delayed, according to a report by Faroese national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

Collective agreements that expired on 1 October last year have yet to be renewed. Mary Antonsdóttir, chair of the Faroese Healthcare Workers’ Union (Heilsuhjálparafelag Føroya), confirmed that talks with the Municipal Employers’ Association will now resume after stalling.

Antonsdóttir described the process as “difficult” in reaching an agreement between the parties.
