The municipality of Lørenskog in Norway has activated its crisis management team following a major data breach over the weekend, according to a statement released Monday.

In a press release, the municipality confirmed that several of its IT systems were compromised in the attack. Authorities have so far found no evidence that sensitive personal data was extracted.

“We have implemented extensive security measures, and our IT department is working closely with an external cybersecurity partner,” the statement read. A crisis leadership team has been established to coordinate the response and manage public communication.

Kristin Klokkervold, the municipality’s communications director, stated that securing essential public services remains the top priority. The incident has been reported to police, the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, and the National Security Authority (NSM).

The municipality acknowledged receiving a message related to the attack but, following security advice, will not engage with the perpetrators.
