Danish police criticised for ‘highly unsatisfactory’ handling of criminal cases
A long-awaited investigation has exposed serious shortcomings in Danish police handling of violent and economic crime cases, describing their work as “highly unsatisfactory,” national broadcaster DR reports.
The report, commissioned by the Danish National Auditors (Statsrevisorerne) and conducted by the National Audit Office (Rigsrevisionen), follows revelations by DR last year about police “washing” cases—closing investigations prematurely by skipping basic forensic work to meet efficiency targets.
Officials presented the findings at a press conference on Tuesday, focusing on systemic failures in how police process serious criminal offences.
