Vágur school receives climate award from Faroese Teachers’ Union
The Faroese Teachers’ Union has awarded Vágur school its annual climate prize for its work in raising student awareness of plastic pollution and sustainability, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The school’s project combines practical, investigative, and creative teaching methods, with students examining plastic waste in their local environment. Activities have included cleaning and analysing debris along the shoreline in Vágur, supported by the nearby Fab Lab workshop.
Teachers Elin Tausen and Tina Grønbech led the interdisciplinary initiative, which ran from January to June as part of the handcraft and art curriculum. This marks the seventh time the climate award, valued at 25,000 DKK, has been presented.
