Faroese Red Cross provided 5.6 million krona in humanitarian aid last year
The Faroese Red Cross allocated 5.6 million krona to humanitarian aid in 2025, according to the organisation’s annual report presented at its general assembly, as reported by Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.
The aid included 651 packages of food and clothing distributed within the Faroe Islands. Additionally, 2,361 people in the Faroes received first aid training last year. The organisation’s recycling initiative also generated 2.2 million krona in revenue.
At the assembly, the Red Cross board was re-elected, with Jóannes Eidesgaard continuing as chair. The board members are Torfinn Højgaard (deputy chair), Mary-Ann Thomsen (treasurer), Fía Niclasen, and Tommy Petersen. Alternate members are Eyrith Guttesen Leyni and Tórgerð Jallgrímsdóttir.
The organisation also introduced its new strategy, ‘Saman um at hjálpa’ (Together to Help), which will guide its work from 2026 to 2031.
