Finnish mothers awarded state honours at national Mother’s Day celebration
Finnish President Alexander Stubb will award 38 mothers with the Order of the White Rose of Finland at a national Mother’s Day ceremony in Helsinki on Sunday, reports national broadcaster Yle, citing STT.
The recipients will receive the First Class Medal with Gold Cross, an annual honour recognising exemplary parenting and contributions to family life and child-rearing in society. This year’s oldest honouree is a 91-year-old mother of six.
The Order of the White Rose is Finland’s highest state decoration for civilian achievements, with the medal variant specifically awarded to mothers for distinguished child-rearing efforts.
