Faroese fishing vessels under 15 tonnes can now apply for permits

Fishing vessels under 15 tonnes in quota group 5 intending to operate on the Faroe Bank this year may now submit applications for fishing permits, according to the Faroese Ministry of Fisheries.

To qualify for a permit, vessels must have recorded at least 500,000 krona in earnings in one of the past three years. Under maritime safety regulations, all vessels fishing on the Faroe Bank must also hold a valid navigation licence specifically covering the area.

Applications must be received by the Faroese Fisheries Authority (Vørn) no later than 12:00 on 18 May.
